As a survivor of PTSD, I found it very useful to call someone who understands the situation or a professional to walk through this myself when I was provoked by an episode. In the beginning it was very difficult but today I can not do it without even call anyone for help and much less frequently .
If you have a cell phone, put your medical professional and a friend of confidence on his speed dial. Let them know that if something causes you are asked to walk with you through this exercise .
For this exercise to be effective, you must know when you go through an episode of PTSD. A good medical professional can help you learn what to look .
When something triggers you and you start getting scared, stop what you’re doing. Tell yourself there is nothing to worry about .
If the fear of not diminishing, slowly walk to the nearest exit as calmly as possible. Try to go to a public place. If it is dark and you go outside, find an open space with sufficient lighting. Do not forget your cell phone .

One of the hardest things to deal with when you have post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, is the sudden appearance of fear.
